Product Description
A practical guide for the diagnostic surgical pathologist, this book presents the diverse spectrum of pathologic alterations that occur in the breast in a manner analogous to the way they are encountered in daily practice. Lesions are grouped according to their histologic patterns to simulate the way pathologists face these lesions as they examine microscopic slides. The approach is based on pattern recognition and emphasizes differential diagnosis. The book contains over 500 full-color photomicrographs and 50 tables summarizing key clinical and pathologic features and differential diagnostic issues. A companion Website will offer 900 full-color images, plus the fully searchable text and a test bank that is ideal for board preparation.

| Customer Reviews: A must for pathologists October 25, 2008 Path doc 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book that is well organized, well written and beautifully illustrated. I have found this to be an extremely useful reference during the course of surgical pathology signout. Discussion of diagnostic problems in which I have been interested have been easy to find and clearly addressed. I think this is a "must have" book for practicing pathologists, pathology residents and pathology fellows. It is also likely to be a useful reference for clinicians involved in the care of patients with breast diseases.
to the point May 2, 2009 Dr. Konstantinos Linos (Albany, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book. It does not have a lot of blah blah ( you know what I mean!!) but it has all the necessary information to function as a resident and an attending. I really enjoyed it, as from a linguistic point of view is so well written. And tons of pictures. Recommended
I really like this book August 18, 2010 happycow (The middle of the world, Canada) I give this book a buy rating.
I don't really have anything bad to say about this book. I think the authors did a great job.
Schnitt and Collins showed restraint in their writing style, which I found concise and to the point. No useless philosophical musings or personal opinions clutter the text. To me it seems they focused on generally accepted points, while touching on some emerging issues but generally keeping to the facts and scientifically proven concepts. I just hate it when authors raise a contentious issue and then, instead of letting us know what is currently accepted safe standard of practice, list several opposing publications all of equal merit, leaving it up to us to choose which route to follow...fine if you don't have to actually sign out a case in a reasonable timespan and ensure valid and currently useful points are included in your report back to the clinician.
Key concepts are clearly communicated and there are ample micrographs of good quality and size to help demostrate particular diagnostic points. I particularly found the chapters covering columnar cell, epithelial proliferative and papillary lesions very helpful.
Another feature I like is the use of tables contrasting or summarizing key pionts at the end of some of the sections.
I think this book will appeal to residents in particular, and will be useful even to pathologists who wish to review relevant and key concepts when time is of the essence.
